Back in the USSR, I mean USA
Mike and I are back from our lovely trip back home to Canada. Before I get into a brief description of our visit allow me to regale you with a story I was treated to upon my arrival back at work this morning.
A resident called yesterday to inquire if maintenance had been in her apartment on a particular day in November when she had put in a work order for a maintenance request. C, one of my coworkers checked and yes indeed one of our maintenance staff had taken her key out on specified day (guess which one, quelle surprise).
Well, it turns out she just received her bill from the cable company and on that day there was an additional charge for $100 (can you see where this is going?). Yup, you guessed it, J ordered four back-to-back porn movies during lunch while he was in her apartment. If this doesn't get him sacked I don't know what will. My manager T is currently out of town and unable to take care of the situation (not that he would were he actual here), but the mother of the resident called and said she was going to start a petition to get J fired and he had better be gone by the time the kids returned from winter break.
While I find the boldness and outright stupidity of this totally hilarious, it also pisses me off because the residents are looking at all of the community staff with distrust and while I do dislike my job I also want to retain some air of professionalism which is becoming difficult to do.
So back to Canada. Mike and I had an absolutely wonderful visit. The flight was excellent thanks to my Ativan. As I was telling Megan, it prevents the body from responding to the anxious physical cues set forth by the mind. After a while the mind gives up and all is well and calm.
We got to visit all our family which was great (hi seestor!), since I haven't seen many of them since we left. We also saw friends and their new human and fur kids. Kelowna is really starting to change thanks to a boom in development, but unfortunately it also means people are moving higher and higher up the mountains, leaving it certain areas looking rather bleak.
The visit seemed to go by rather quickly, and it feels weird that just yesterday I was in Vancouver and now I'm across the country in Atlanta. The kitties seemed happy that we were home, especially Luna who I suspect was shunned from any loneliness-initiated-cuddles while we were away.
Anyways, I'm back at work, which is dead, waiting for the next drama to unfold.
